Having barely escaped Fangtasia, Lafayette (Nelsan Ellis) finds himself reluctantly pulled back into Eric’s orbit.

Later, Sookie's needs get the better of her as she returns to Bill's and is greeted by a bunch of his barbarous vampire friends.

The main puzzle of the first season concerns the murders of girls hooked up to Sookie's brother, Jason ( Ryan Kwanten ). Maudette Pickens, Dawn Green and Amy Burley are all strangled straight after having been alone with Jason. Though Detective Bellefleur has small doubt that Jason is the killer, the city policeman does not suspect him. Jason and Sookie's grandmama is murdered immediately afterward. At the end of the season it is revealed that Arlene Fowler's fiancé, Rene Lenier, is actually a bloke named Drew Marshall who made a fake identity, Cajun accent and all. He has been killing women he considers "fang-bangers."
